The 4C’s of Diamonds
Cut
The cut is the only aspect of a diamond that’s crafted by human hands — and it plays the biggest role in revealing the stone’s true beauty. A diamond’s cut determines its proportion, symmetry, and polish, all of which influence how brilliantly it reflects light.
A well-cut diamond allows light to enter through the top (the crown) and reflect off the internal facets like tiny mirrors. This creates that mesmerizing sparkle and fire that makes diamonds so captivating. As the light returns through the crown, it disperses into a stunning display of brilliance — the kind of shimmer that lights up a room.
When a diamond is cut too shallow or too deep, light escapes through the sides or bottom, diminishing its sparkle and brilliance. The perfect cut balances angle, proportion, and polish, maximizing the diamond’s fire, reflection, and overall beauty.
💎 Did you know?
Nearly 40% of a diamond’s total value is determined by its cut quality — making it the most important of the 4Cs.

Clarity
Clarity measures the presence of internal flaws or inclusions in a diamond. While most diamonds have some natural inclusions, fewer imperfections make a diamond more valuable.
In most cases, inclusions are microscopic and do not affect a diamond’s beauty. In fact, a well-cut diamond can disperse light in a way that masks minor inclusions, maintaining its brilliance and sparkle.
💎 Did you know?
Clarity contributes roughly 25% of a diamond’s total value.
Carat
Carat weight measures a diamond’s size, with one carat equaling 1/5 of a gram, further divided into 100 points (so a 50-point diamond is 0.5 carats).
Large diamonds are rare — only about one in a million diamonds mined reach 1 carat or more. However, carat is mostly a personal preference, as size does not directly affect quality. A 1-carat diamond can look larger or smaller depending on finger size and setting style.
